Band 7 - Senior Management Accountant

Band 7 Senior Management Accountant needed on contract basis until November 2026 (with possible extension) to provide expert analysis on financial planning, investment prioritsation and strategic decision making within the department:

• $74.54ph + super
• Located Brisbane CBD
• Hyrbid work arrangement

Key obligations include:

• Technical Accounting Authority: Act as the subject matter expert on complex accounting
  issues, ensuring all financial activities align with statutory requirements, legislative frameworks,
  and professional standards.
• Financial Reporting Leadership: Direct the end-to-end preparation and review of
  comprehensive financial statements, technical papers, and data-driven analyses
• Policy Development & Governance: Design, implement, and maintain robust accounting policy
  frameworks that standardise financial operations and strengthen internal controls across the
  organisation.
• Regulatory Compliance & Interpretation: Monitor, interpret, and operationalise changes in
  government legislation and financial regulations
• Audit Management: Lead internal and external audit engagements, managing stakeholder
  relationships and ensuring the timely resolution of findings through robust control environments.
• Team Mentorship & Capability Building: Foster a culture of high performance by guiding and
  mentoring accounting staff, promoting professional development, and enhancing the teams
  technical expertise.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with diverse finance streams to deliver integrated
  reporting and unified financial support that aligns with broader organisational objectives.

To be successful in this role:

You’ll be an experienced Senior Management Accountant with proven experience and reliability in previous government positions. You will possess the following:

• Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline essential
• Post Graduate Qualifications in Management, Public Administration, or similar would is desirable
• Familiarity with integrated ERP/finance systems and contemporary reporting tools
